I have recently started performing after being in the shadow of my father and brother, my father was a well known and respected singer in the clubs in and around Manchester and my brother is a very busy singer still performing every weekend in the UK.
I started experimenting with music just before I moved to the Island when my partner bought me a keyboard, up until that point I lived and breathed my IT business which had always taken up so much of my life, I had always had this secret yearning to be a singer but had only ever sang to my partner I didn't even know if I could sing in public! I started writing my first song for my partner and have now written three. I had never sang in public and when we moved to Cyprus in 2007 I sang for the first time in a Karaoke bar, that was it I was hooked!
My partner realised how badly I had the singing bug and secretly entered me in a local talent contest at Ben's Bar in Paphos, this competition which was the Island's version of the X Factor was both exhilarating and nerve-racking for me but I enjoyed every minute and came runner up. I then entered the Pop Factor competition in the Hollywood Bar in Paphos and came runner up again!
The confidence I gained was invaluable, I started promoting myself and I am now doing regular gigs at hotels, bars, clubs and private parties. I recently organised an open air concert at my local village 'Pano Arodes' which was attended by approx 100 people, we had three performers including myself, it was hailed a great success and will hopefully be the first of many concerts to come with the help of my friends!
